F3 Parent and Player Expectations

Expectations:

  • Fun:

    • Emphasizes the importance of enjoying the game for players.

    • Acknowledges that without the element of fun, interest may decline.

  • Safe:

    • Stresses the need for physical and emotional safety.

    • Coaches are responsible for creating a non-threatening atmosphere.

    • Parents play a role in teaching children to value and care for others.

  • Intelligent:

    • Highlights the significance of soccer intelligence 

    • Encourages exposure to various soccer experiences, including playing, watching, traveling, and educational material.

  • Motivated:

    • Breaks down motivation into activation, persistence, and intensity.

    • Advocates for intrinsic motivation over extrinsic, with an emphasis on developing a passion for the game.

  • Savvy:

    • Aims for players to be well-informed about the nuances of the game.

    • Attributes this to a combination of constant exposure to the game and the coach's experience.

  • Development:

    • Players should be able to see incremental improvement over a period of time

    • Development is a long term process

    • Development is as an individual and a team

Education for Players

  • Behavior:

    • Players are expected to act within the team philosophy.

    • Specific behavioral expectations include no talking to opponents, referees, or the opposing team's coach.

    • Emphasis on shaking hands respectfully and embracing the expected style of play and behavior.

  • Playing Time:

    • Coaches will determine playing time.

    • Players attending every practice on time will receive priority.

    • Coaches may consider legitimate reasons for missing practice.

  • First Team Priority:

    • Players on the first team should prioritize their commitments to the team, both in games and training.

    • Guest playing is allowed, but not at the expense of the first team.

  • Guest Playing:

    • Players may guest play, but any changes or decisions regarding guest playing should be made with the agreement of all parties involved, including both coaches.

  • Coach Discretion:

    • Coaches have the discretion to make changes regarding guest playing, but it requires mutual agreement from both coaches.

  • Training Priority:

    • Players' training priority should be their first team.

    • Any additional training opportunities outside the first team should be considered a privilege and must be discussed between the coaches.

These guidelines emphasize collaboration and communication between coaches, players, and teams to ensure that guest playing and additional training opportunities do not compromise the commitment and performance of players on the first team. It encourages a balanced approach that respects the needs and priorities of both the first team and individual players.

  • Uniforms:

    • Players must always wear the assigned uniform by CEFC/F3.

  • Parents:

    • Encourage your parents to cheer and support players from both teams.

Expectations for Parents

Expectations for Parents:

  • No coaching from the sidelines to avoid conflicting information with the coach's plans.

  • The 24-hour rule for open and respectful communication with coaching staff.

  • Communication:

    • The ideal line of communication involves speaking to the coach after practice, with the possibility of a team administrator or assistant coach present.

  • Protocol for Problem Solving:

    • After-practice conversation with the coaching staff.

    • Specific contacts for different types of issues (CEFC, CESA, F3).

Expectations for Coaches

  • Representation:

    • Coaches should represent F3, CESA, and CEFC in the highest possible way.

    • Mindfulness of the mentor role to players, parents, referees, and other teams.

  • Attire:

    • Coaches should always wear F3 coaching attire for professionalism, easy identification, promotion of the brand, and acknowledgment of the financial investment in high-quality gear.

  • Planning:

    • Training should have a plan related to the style of play and game-like situations.

  • Time Keeping:

    • Being on time is crucial for organizational professionalism.

    • Note that parents and players observe the coach's behavior.

  • Non-negotiables:

    • Embracing the F3 philosophy and culture.

    • Punctuality.

    • No phone usage while coaching or teaching.

    • Wearing F3 gear at all times.

    • Documentation of any incidents worth reporting.

  • Document Revision:

    • The document will be revised as needed and will be constantly evolving.
