Anwar was born and raised in Mogadishu, Somalia. He started playing soccer (football) at the age of 5 despite growing up in a civil war. Soccer was the only thing that made him feel safe.

He came to USA with my family to join his mother who had already been living in the Stafes. Anwar started as a volunteer coach at Ohio Youth Academy (OYA) and he found that he had a passion for helping kids in his community. Now he is a full time coach at OYA and working with different ages and he is happy to be part of their growth.

He is also happy to be part of Final Third Foundation (F3).  Anwar agrees with the vision of the organization and is loves working as a program manager in F3’s Soccer and Literacy programs with different schools and students.
